Pluck out your eyes? Really? No Way....

Anybody troubled by these verses?
     Matt 5: 27-29 (NIV) “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’[e] But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.  If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
     Matt 18: 7-9 (NIV) Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come! ...And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.
     Mark 9:47 And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell...
